No. 2 Revalita (5-2) got the wrong setup in the Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3) on March 4, and that turned out to be a productive race. The winner and runner-up both returned to win stakes races, and this filly rallied for the place from the outside post in the Edgewood (G2) on May 5. Jose Ortiz stays put and she should be heard from in the stretch.

No. 5 Prerequisite (6-1) finished an OK fourth in her turf route debut at Gulfstream, and that was a key race. Spansive and Gloria’s Princess, the winner and runner-up in that heat, both were next-out winners, and Chad Brown’s filly stalked wide and tallied second time out on May 7. Flavien Prat knows her now, and she might get the jump on the late runners. The clear runner-up finisher from her last race came back to graduate June 3.

No. 4 Juniper’s Moon (6-1) was part of the trifecta in all four turf-route attempts. She was clearly second best behind Spansive last time. The versatile filly shows a rising numbers pattern and should offer value.

No. 3 Venecia (7-2) won her all-weather route debut in France last year. She moved to the Chad Brown barn and made her first start in this country at Keeneland on April 27, and she rallied for the show as the betting favorite after a slow start. Irad Ortiz Jr. knows her now, and she might move forward.

No. 8 Spansive (7-2) wired the field in both of her turf route starts. Jose Ortiz opted to ride Revalita in this spot, so Todd Pletcher reaches out for John Velazquez.
