Sunday’s eighth race at Laurel Park is an optional-claiming event for 3-year-olds dashing six furlongs on the main track. The scheduled post time is 3:49 p.m. EST.

No. 4 Point Dume (5-2) shipped from Del Mar and dropped into a local maiden claimer on Dec. 31, and he woke up in a big way in a romping victory. Kieron Magee is his new trainer, and he should be all over the pace.

No. 3 Catahoula Moon (2-1) competed in the stakes ranks in his last four starts. He won the Maryland Million Nursery last fall and was clearly second best in the Maryland Juvenile late last year. He raced wide as the beaten favorite in the Heft Stakes on Dec. 30, and he cuts back to his winning distance.

No. 7 Nancy Made My Day (9-2) earned an improved speed rating in a runner-up finish in a similar local sprint on Jan. 14. He had a good trip from the rail at a shorter distance last time. The pace should be honest, and he will try to get involved in the stretch from the outside post.
