Sunday's Best Bet: Persisto can control pace in Busanda Stakes

Sunday’s 7th race from Aqueduct is the $100,000 Busanda Stakes for 3-year-old fillies traveling a mile and an eighth on the main track (Post Time - 4:25 p.m. ET).

#4 PERSISTO (4-1) is getting better for Kelly Breen and might be able to control the pace in this spot. I love the return to two turns and believe she can steal this race at a hint of a price.

#6 Harvey’s Lil Girl (2-1) dusted Persisto last time and is lightly raced and on the upswing for Bill Mott. This is just her third start and a slow early tempo might hurt her chances.

#7 Fiftyshays Ofgreen (4-1) looks like a stayer for Jason Servis, and the pedigree says the longer the better (Bernardini-Touch Gold). She stretched out around two turns and defeated Persisto at Monmouth last fall. She should be perched outside in a striking position, and the pace won’t be fast.

#1 Water White (5-2) raced wide from an outer post and really did not have a fair chance in the Demoiselle (G2) Dec. 7. She defeated Persisto in a flat mile maiden race before that and should save ground stalking the pace. She can hit the board.

#5 Truth Hurts (8-1) stalked the pace and captured both starts. I like the distance progression.

#3 Quality Heat (12-1) hit the board in all five starts since her extended sprint maiden victory on turf last summer.

#2 Ankle Monitor (12-1) captured 4 of her last 6 starts. The biggest concern is distance. All of her wins were around one turn.
