Sunday's Best Bet: Frosted Over warms up in Marine Stakes
Sunday’s 7th race from Woodbine is the Grade 3 Marine Stakes for three-year-olds traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the all-weather surface (Post Time 4:24 p.m. ET).
#2 FROSTED OVER (4-1) has the same form as his stablemate Our Flash Drive. The latter was up the track in her first two starts at Saratoga before returning with a good looking local maiden win, and she clicked right back in Saturday’s Selene Stakes (G3). This colt was nowhere in his first two dirt sprints, and returned with a sharp extended sprint maiden win at Woodbine June 20. He stretches out in distance and might be this good.
#3 Easy Time (5-2) stalked and smartly graduated in his local debut at seven panels last fall. He failed to handle dirt in the Mucho Macho Man Stakes second time out, and surged late to miss by a neck in a turf route at Gulfstream Feb. 12. Mark Casse’s $250k purchase reconnects with his winning rider Rafael Hernandez.
#1 Tidal Forces (2-1) chased slow fractions from second place before pushing forward to graduate by a neck in his turf route bow at Gulfstream Park April 10. In a local all-weather route second time out, he sat behind fast fractions and finished nicely to score by a half-length June 19.
#6 Keep Grinding (8-1) ended his juvenile season with a maiden win as the favorite at this course and distance, and returned with an okay show finish behind Tidal Forces on June 19. He should be forwardly placed.
#5 Haddassah (3-1) captured his local route bow as the favorite in a race originally scheduled for turf last fall. He was best of the rest in third place in his entry level return June 13. I would not be surprised to see him move forward in his second start of the year.
#4 Candy Overload (10-1) ran well in his last three local sprints including a nice runner-up finish in his first start in seven months June 20. He stretches out and will try to get involved late.
