No. 9 Coin Miner (8-1) rallied to finish a close third in his turf debut at 5 1/2 furlongs. He got another furlong to work with in an allowance race at Kentucky Downs second time out, and he got up late to graduate by a half-length. Aspenite was the clear runner-up in the latter race, and that one came back to take the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile on Sept. 10. Keith Desormeaux shows a profit with his first route starters, and the Cloud Computing colt should be running late under James Graham.

No. 5 Noted (3-1) rallied for the place in his turf sprint bow, and he stretched out and earned his diploma in a turf route at Saratoga second time out. He returned to dirt and rallied wide to capture the Sapling Stakes last time. Todd Pletcher’s $200k Cairo Prince colt is versatile and should be in the hunt if he maintains sharp form.

No. 1 Palm Tree (9-2) was a respectable third in his dirt sprint bow, and he switched to turf and closed nicely to break his maiden at 6 1/2 furlongs on Sept. 7. The son of Street Boss is bred to handle two turns, and his stablemate No. 12 First World War (6-1) also rates a look. The latter ran on smartly to score in his flat-mile turf debut at Kentucky Downs. The $285k War Front colt will need to work out a trip from a wide post.

No. 3 Depiction (10-1) was the betting favorite in both starts and showed marked improvement in a flat-mile turf maiden win second time out.
