Saturday’s 10th race at Gulfstream Park is the $75,000 Sunshine Sprint for Florida-bred 4-year-olds and up dashing six furlongs on the main track. The scheduled post time is 4:37 p.m. EST.

No. 3 Unsociable (7-2) was nabbed out of his last by Mike Maker, and I like playing recent claims in races like this. The all-weather sprint specialist captured his last three local starts on synthetic ground, and earned improved speed ratings in those races. This is his first dirt attempt and Irad Ortiz Jr. hops aboard the early-pressing type.

No. 4 Legends Can’t Die (3-1) switched to dirt, set the pace, and was second best in a local extended sprint on Dec. 22. He fired a bullet before that race, and drilled another one on Jan. 7. I am not sure he makes the lead in this shorter event, but the speed rating he earned last time stamps him as the one to beat. He stalked and scored in his turf sprint bow at this distance last summer.

No. 2 Gatsby (4-1) has been most effective in extended sprints recently. He did win this event last year and fits with these on his best day.
