Saturday's Best Bet: Not So Quiet blasts home in Vice Regent
Saturday’s 7th race from Woodbine is the $150,000 Vice Regent Stakes for Ontario-bred three-year-olds and up dashing five furlongs on the inner turf course (Post Time - 4:24 p.m. ET).
#6 NOT SO QUIET (3-1) won three races at Woodbine last year including this event and Saturday’s rider Rafael Hernandez was aboard for each of those victories. He dueled and weakened at seven panels on turf June 27 and that was his first start in more than seven months. He was a solid 3rd in the Vigil (G3) on all-weather ground Aug. 1 and he has every right to move forward in his third start after a layoff. His early-pressing versatility should serve him well in this spot.
#5 Souper Hot (10-1) does some of his best work at this distance. He stalked and scored at this course/distance as the favorite vs. optional claiming company Aug. 12. He fired a local half-mile bullet for this Sept. 4 and might sit a nice trip behind lively fractions.
#7 City Boy (2-1) is 3-for-23 with twelve minor awards and he especially likes completing the exacta. He won the Nearctic (G2) in 2019 and has not won in seven outings since. David Moran sticks with the versatile gelding and he will probably finish somewhere in the top three.
#8 Forester’s Fortune (4-1) finished full of run in a good looking victory at this course/distance Aug. 1. He should get pace to chase.
