No. 2 MISCHIEVOUS KISS (6-1) fired in all four turf starts last year including a stakes win at Belmont Park. Her Tepin Stakes show finish at Aqueduct last fall was better than it appears. She stalked tepid fractions from an outer post while racing wide, and kept on fighting to the wire. Bill Mott’s filly should love a flat mile and figures to save ground behind lively splits.
No. 4 Spendarella (6-1) chased from 2nd and was strong in the lane in her winning turf route bow at Gulfstream Feb. 2. Graham Motion’s $220k purchase might be a good one.
No. 4 Beside Herself (4-1) fired in all three turf starts including a sharp front running win with the addition of blinkers in her slow early/fast late maiden win this distance on turf Jan. 30.
No. 3 Diamond Wow (8-1) was my value top choice in the Forward Gal (G3), and she chased from 2nd and weakened to 4th in that seven panel Kentucky Oaks points race. She ran well in both turf starts last year including a head defeat from post 13 in the Jessamine (G2). Patrick Biancone does not have very good stats with horses adding blinkers for the first time.
No. 12 Lia Marina (9-2) has some ability for Christophe Clement but working out a trip from this post might be difficult.
Also-eligible No. 13 Dolce Zel (5-1) won a turf sprint in France second time out last fall. Chad Brown has her now and she is interesting if she gets in, but the post is no bargain.
