Saturday's Best Bet: Merveilleux a formidable foe in Trillium

Saturday’s 7th race from Woodbine is the Grade 3 Trillium Stakes for fillies and mares traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the all-weather surface (Post Time - 4:30 p.m. ET). 

#5 MERVEILLEUX (3-1) won her final two local stakes starts last year and has not been seen in more than seven months. The versatile filly was ready to go in her first start in half a year last June. 

#7 Skygaze (6-1) captured her last three starts vs. lesser company. She crossed the line first and was demoted to third place in the local Mazarine (G3) in 2019 and that was her lone stakes attempt. 

#2 Souper Escape (2-1) makes her first start in more than seven months and she might be the one to catch. The early-pressing mare went all the way in this race last summer but had the benefit of a couple of sprint preps.

#8 Heavenly Curlin (5-2) was no threat in a pair of graded turf routes at Gulfstream Park over the winter. She is 3-for-3 at Woodbine and two of those victories were at this distance. She should be heard from late. 

#1 Crystal Glacier (12-1) was sharp in a pair of allowance wins at Turway Park earlier this year. She figures to save ground stalking the pace.
