Saturday's Best Bet: Harcyn can move up in California Derby
Saturday’s 10th race at Golden Gate is the $100,000 California Derby for 3-year-olds traveling 1 1/16 miles on the all-weather surface. The scheduled post time is 8:53 p.m. EDT.

No. 2 Harcyn (4-1) wired the field from the inside post in his first two local sprints. He stalked the pace and hit the board in his last two routes. He adds blinkers and might get first run.
No. 7 Passarando (5-1) defeated Chase the Chaos in the Gold Rush Stakes late last year, and that one turned the tables on him in the El Camino Real Derby. Frank Alvarado knows the fresh gelding now and he can make some late noise at a hint of a price.
No. 8 Chase the Chaos (5-2) packs a nice late kick in local routes. He smartly captured the El Camino Real Derby the last time he raced at Golden Gate, and was no threat on dirt in the San Felipe last time.
No. 9 Prince Abu Dhabi (4-1) is lightly raced and on the upswing for Blaine Wright. He rallied to win his first two local sprints, and stretched out and tallied by a nose on March 31.
