Saturday's Best Bet: Art of Almost cleans up in My Charmer
Saturday’s 5th race from Turfway Park is the $100,000 My Charmer Stakes for fillies and mares traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the all-weather surface (Post Time - 8:14 p.m. EST).
No. 11 ART OF ALMOST (4-1) has the best overall all-weather form in this event. Mark Casse’s mare won the Ontario Matron (G3) Oct. 10 and cuts back to her winning distance after a 7th place finish in a ten panel race without much pace in the Maple Leaf (G3) Nov. 13. She will probably stalk outside under Rafael Bejarano.
No. 5 Adventuring (2-1) is a stakes winner on turf and synthetic, and that all-weather score was in the local Bourbonette Oaks March 27. Her running style versatility should serve her well in this spot and her new rider Joe Talamo can place her anywhere depending on race shape.
No. 2 So Darn Hot (4-1) owns two dirt wins at this distance and exits a clear runner-up finish in the Turnback the Alarm (G3). She owns competitive speed ratings and probably fits with these if she handles all-weather ground.
No. 6 Breeze Rider (9-2) captured five of her last nine starts and she picked up a stakes win as my top choice on turf at Fair Grounds Nov. 25. The early-pressing filly has a nose for the wire and makes her first attempt on synthetic ground.
No. 9 Fate Factor (15-1) finished out of the top three just once in ten outings this year for Chris Block. She exits a rallying runner-up finish in a synthetic route stakes at Presque Isle Downs.
