Monday's Best Bet: Moonlit Garden ready to shine in Bayakoa Stakes
Monday's seventh race from Oaklawn Park is the Grade 3, $200,000 Bayakoa Stakes for fillies and mares traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the main track (Post Time - 5:09 p.m. ET).
#10 MOONLIT GARDEN (4-1) exits a good runner-up finish behind Midnight Bisou in the Houston Ladies Classic (G3). Jose Ortiz rides her well, and she projects an outside stalking trip. She landed the show in both local maiden sprint starts last year and really picked up her game around two turns after that.
#7 Remedy (4-1) set the pace and held the place in the Remington Oaks (G3), and she ran a big race to finish a clear second in the Comely (G3) after losing her footing at the start. She exits a flat fourth in the Houston Ladies Classic, and she went to the front both times today’s rider Florent Geroux was aboard last year.
#6 She’s a Julie (9-5) is a solid early-pressing contender for Steve Asmussen. She ran some quality races in the sophomore graded ranks last year including wins in the Iowa Oaks (G3) and Remington Oaks (G3).
