Monday's Best Bet: La Sardane can upset Vasilika in Megahertz Stakes
Monday’s eighth race from Santa Anita Park is the Grade 3 Megahertz Stakes for fillies and mares traveling one mile on the turf course (Post Time - 6:34 p.m. ET).
#7 La Sardane (6-1) lost her way in her last pair after winning three straight in this country last year (two stakes wins). She owns early pressing versatility and is a fresh threat at a hint of a price under Joel Rosario.
#3 Vasilika (6-5) was a 9-for-11 win machine last year, and she received a well deserved mini-break after an even fourth in the Matriarch (G1) on Dec. 2. She could easily start a new win streak Monday and probably will if she runs her best race.
#4 Amandine (3-1) posted back-to-back scores from off the pace at this distance in her first two starts in this country and wheeled back in three days and finished thirrd in the American Oaks (G1) on Dec. 29. She reconnects with winning rider Drayden Van Dyke and might be good enough to step up and topple older.
#1 Ms Bad Behavior (4-1) always runs her early-pressing race on turf and might be aggressively handled from the hedge under Mike Smith. She has never finished out of the exacta at Santa Anita (7: 2-5-0).
