Monday's Best Bet: Here's Waldo finds nice spot in Ontario County
Monday’s 8th race from Finger Lakes is the Ontario County Stakes for New York-bred three-year-olds dashing six furlongs on the main track (Post Time 4:33 p.m. ET).
#4 HERE’S WALDO (3-1) set the pace and held the place in his last two dirt routes at Penn National, and he earned quality speed ratings in both of those races. He graduated at this distance Jan. 27 and should make his presence felt throughout.
#6 Conformist (5-2) returns to dirt in his second start after the claim. He set the pace in three of his four starts at this distance including a sharp debut romp last fall.
#5 Gonna Be Dancing (12-1) had an uncomfortable start from the outside post before rallying for the place behind runaway winner Harrison Knows in his local sprint bow May 19, and the latter returned to romp again in an allowance affair June 2. It is not easy for a maiden second timer to capture a stakes race, but he is not too far behind on numbers and has every right to move forward.
