Friday's Best Bet: Mentality back at favorite venue in Hessonite

Friday’s 8th race from Belmont Park is the $75,000 Hessonite Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares dashing six furlongs on the turf course (Post Time 5:04 p.m. ET).

#5 MENTALITY (7-2) is an early-pressing type with an affinity for this turf course. Friday’s pilot Dylan Davis booted her home twice last year in six furlong turf races at Belmont Park.  

#4 Kid is Frosty (3-1) might return running for Brad Cox. She captured a pair of New York Stallion Series turf races last summer under Friday’s rider Irad Ortiz Jr. Look for a forwardly placed trip in a race without much pace. 

#1 Hannah’s Smile (9-2) needed her local return vs. open company at seven panels. She does some of her best work at this distance and should go better in this spot. 

#3 Purrageous Dyna (6-1) is back on turf for quality layoff trainer Edward Allard. She has won here before and fired in both turf starts at six furlongs. 

#7 Saratoga Treasure (2-1) was overmatched vs. Newspaperofrecord in her needed Intercontinental (G3) return June 6. She figures to be running late but this race might not set up for her.  

#6 Jc’s Shooting Star (6-1) is an eight-year-old mare with races good enough to win this. Her recent form is below par and she lacks early speed. Jose Ortiz takes the call. 

#2 Sadie Lady (8-5) is entered for main track only.
