Friday’s 9th race from Del Mar is the $65,000 Daisycutter Handicap for fillies and mares dashing five furlongs on the turf course (Post Time 9:07 p.m. ET).

#6 JO JO AIR (7-2) is an interesting Churchill shipper for Wesley Ward. She stalked outside, forged to the lead, and yielded to the closers late at 5.5 furlongs June 19. This slight cut back in distance helps, and I like her running style versatility. Look for a well-timed move from off the pace under Flavien Prat.

#3 Stealthediamonds (5-2) is probably the speed of the speed. She exits a good 3rd vs. Jolie Olimpica and Olkesandra in the Monrovia (G2), and obviously there are no such rivals in this spot. She is 2-for-2 at Del Mar.

#2 Tomlin (8-1) switched to turf, dueled on the lead, and gamely prevailed in the Camilla Urso at Golden Gate May 30. She is sharp and fresh, and I like her versatility.

#5 Mucho Amor (15-1) rallied for 3rd from post 10 in the Camilla Urso. She reunites with her winning pilot Juan Hernandez, and she had a local turf work July 19.

#8 Surrender Now (9-2) ran last in both graded turf sprint attempts this year. She is 2-for-2 at Del Mar and looms a pace factor at the very least.

Playing the horses can be a rewarding but tough game. Exacta, trifectas, superfectas, Pick 4s, Pick 5s -- there are so many wagers to play, it can get overly confusing. How do you know how much to play or which wagers to try? Unfortunately, part of the learning process can include losing money.
