Southwest Mile hunches

First, it appears the first of the two fields (race 8) comes up more competitive and could produce "better" betting values. Along those lines, I like the third-choice in the morning line - Reckless Jerry at 9-2. I love the fact he has had three consecutive one mile races and made a nice jump in Beyer in his 2012 debut to finish a neck behind (albeit wide trip) Junebugred. The latter son of Corinthian also has reason to improve, but the Oaklawn patrons love winners and thus he may not offer that great of a betting value after receiving a dream trip last time in the Smarty Jones. Also give a second look to Unbridled's Note in your exotics.
Race 9 of The Southwest split offers a clear favorite in Secret Circle. One turn or two turn (which today's race is - 2 turns) shouldn't deter this speedy son of Eddington due to the short stretch of Oaklawn's one mile distance. Very consistent Beyers and sharp works (including a 7 furlong lick) could make this your key horse for you brave players out there! After sharing part of the morning with team Gallery Furniture (aka McIngvale entourage) and trainer Chris Richard, I will offer Pee H Dee as a live longshot at 15-1. Apprehender, the romping winning son of Posse that earned a 98 Beyer in his first race, could also be dangerous even at a mile with Stop the Music as the damsire.
Best of luck today and be sure to tune into TVG for a wonderful day at Oaklawn Park, the center of racing this President's Day!
